JOHN JEWELL John Jewell, director of the What Next broadcast, started his commercial life by studying accountancy with a London company of accountants. This experience meant travelling throughout London and the Home counties auditing and assisting in the preparation of final accounts. He followed this with 8 years of service with the Royal Navy, involved with naval administration, accounting, confidential records etc serving on 2 aircraft carriers, a tank landing craft and an anti-submarine frigate in all parts of the world. A highlight he says was to witness the last test of an H-bomb by Britain in the Pacific. Coming to understand the real message of the bible he procured his release from the navy, ran his own business for a while, and was then employed by the Worldwide Church of God in St. Albans near London where he and his wife were baptised in 1959. Here he became general manager of Ambassador College Press. Following this he was head of department of circulation and mail processing for several magazines in various languages and serving disparate areas of the world such as India, Europe, Africa, South Africa, the French West Indies and French speaking Canada as well as the United Kingdom and was heavily involved with co-ordinating this with the printing plant and with the overseas offices. Along with these responsibilities he attended Ambassador College and graduated after 4 years with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a diploma in Theology. At the same time he was regularly speaking in local churches in the UK and also responsible for properties either owned or leased by the church for employees and for needy church members. Then in 1976 he moved to Cornwall to serve the south west church area and was ordained to the ministry the same year. The area included 4 churches in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. Activities included writing a weekly column for local newspapers and conducting a number of public meetings. Following this he and his wife were re-assigned to Ireland living at Lisburn near Belfast. Here he was responsible for the pastoring of the two church areas of Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic with 6 churches and 600 members. Some 5 years later he was transferred to the north west of England to serve the churches of Manchester, Preston, Penrith and the Isle of Man with more public meetings being conducted. In recent years he has been very involved in the development of the use of the media in all its manifestations on behalf of the church of God. In this he has worked with Sky TV, Reader's Digest both UK and European editions, Daily and Sunday Telegraph and a number of other magazines and newspapers, direct mail, Manx Radio and other radio stations including U.S. based short wave stations. He is now concentrating upon the development of taking a witness to the world through the Internet and, as it is possible, radio with What Next Media International and public meetings. His wife, Tina, has been an invaluable help in all these activities and she served on the faculty of Ambassador College and has over the years worked with the youth of the church. They have two sons, one daughter and three grand-children and look forward to continuing to serve the wider church of God as God makes possible and to doing this until the return of Jesus Christ. DAVID McDERMOTT David McDermott was born in the 1950's in North West England in the United Kingdom. He, his parents and most of his close family all living within a few miles of the seacoast. Advancing through primary and secondary education, he was always the one to ask his teachers the most probing questions about their lessons and lectures. About origins, reasons and proofs! Always craving to know "why" and what is ahead for world. Indeed "What Next?"! Beyond his formative education he attended courses in radio and television engineering, behavioural psychology and advanced public speaking. This later led to experience in news reading and opportunities in breakfast and evening radio presentations on local radio, plus a number of professional voice over opportunities. David is an ongoing member of the "Equity" Entertainment Union in the UK and also the Radio Academy. He has been heard on Sky TV, has produced several business and entertainment CD's and is known and appreciated as a result of his broadcasting and communication abilities on several national and international digital, video and radio outlets including Manx Radio, Radio Caroline, WWCR, WINB and a number of growing Internet outlets. He grew up with an increasing "hunger to know." Nothing and no one prevented that need for a fuller awareness. He had a desire to understand ultimate knowledge and be given full explanations and information. He desired deeply, even at the tender age 12, to answer the biggest questions of life. He "had to know!" He pursued the things most people deep down would love to understand, as they search for that magical paragraph somewhere in a college library, that explains all, marked in a book somewhere on a dusty shelf, marked by an "X." This, he insists is knowledge desired and craved by so many. David now encourages people to ask, to persist, and to find out. There are answers! His challenge is that there really is a Missing Dimension, and that understanding these things is genuinely possible! He has affected, encouraged and challenged people, young and old, offering answers to timeless questions. His wish is that thousands more people would look around their world, evaluate their lives, and think for themselves, that every individual would launch a challenging personal quest, from youth to elderly to pursue the Truth. He maintains that if they had looked in the right places and sincerely pursued just that little bit longer that they would realize, incredible as it sounds, that the "Truth" really IS "out there!" There are answers, which really deliver! They are beyond traditional religion, education, science and philosophy. David will take you a step beyond and compel you to ask, "What Next?!" |
